Knowledge Is Power

Those famous three words, “We the people,” mean little unless we the people understand and practice the principles of freedom. People who understand and exercise freedom are the backbone of the nation. Jefferson said:

“Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves, therefore, are its only safe depositories. And to render even them safe, their minds must be improved to a certain degree.”

“I know of no safe depositor of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

Inspired by these quotes from Thomas Jefferson, I set out to do what I could by conducting educational seminars about the founding principles of our nation. But it quickly became obvious that just about the only people interested in listening were those who were already “on board.” As they say, I was “preaching to the choir.”
